  1. Jesse--

I don't know if the professionals posted above have a business relationship with you, but if not, please note that I am a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist, with over 15 years of experience with OWCP. About 70% of my patients are injured federal employees, and I have done hundreds of impairment ratings, including ratings under the almost unreadable 6th edition of the AMA Guides.

I am in Denver. My contact information is:

    Christopher Ryan, MD
    4155 E Jewell Ave., #1007
    Denver, CO 80222
    303-757-4880

Also, reliable sources indicate that Shirley Bridge retired as the head of District 12 a couple of months ago.

    Thanks.

  2. I do not have any sort of endorsement with FedDoctor.com and will add your name to the list of physician's who are willing to take an OWCP claimant.

Every claimant must do their own due diligence on which physician is right for them, but as we all know, finding a physician willing and able to provide a claimant necessary documentation is not easy.

Thanks for the heads up on District 12

  3. Hi Jesse,
I am fighting OWCP and I have RSD it's been a terrible journey. I have a question is there any way to force the IME Dr to give us a copy of the report of course OWCP said they never received his report they said that the IME before I had because the Dr agreed with my diagnosis. Finally my Dr office got them to send it to them after a year!!! OWCP ignored that it took place and sent me to this one now neither of them will give up the report!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. If OWCP has not received a copy of the IME report then they cannot make determinations on that report. Sometimes the CE will attempt to delay your issues. I would try requesting a copy of your file. The report should be in your file if it's been received and it could be faster and easier than waiting to the CE. The CE isn't involved in getting a copy of your file.

  5. I live in the Atlanta, GA area, and have had troubles finding a physician, let alone a physician who will accept an injured Federal Worker. Do you have any recommendations for a physician in the state of Georgia? I was fired from Orthopedists in the state of Washington due to the difficulties of getting paid for services, along with even my own personal physician telling me that she would not have ever seen me for my injury had I not been an established patient. Any and all help you can give me would be beyond greatly appreciated.

  6. All the physicians I know of are including on the list. This is a common problem for many claimants. We need to get more physicians trained to accept OWCP claimants. I'm sorry I don't know of anyone in your area.

  19. Hi Jesse! I just stumbled upon your blogspot recently and I absolutely love reading the information that you provide. I live in Texas and according to your list I don't see an OWCP Dr. in San Antonio. I fall under the LHWCA and its hard to not only find a Dr but try finding a lawyer who deals with LHWCA....
I'm going to email you a couple of questions about my case and hopefully you will be able to steer me in the right direction.
Thanks for this website/blogspot. Its extremely useful.

  23. Hello A question I think we all need to know. If a claimant file an appeals to the ECAB Board based on different facts and issues and a few months later the claimant was force to file reconsideration because OWCP suspend his benefits bases on a total different sets of facts and issue. Question: does OWCP must carried out its order and process that new claim for reconsideration or the claimant must wait until a decision is rendered from the ECAB based on a total different set of facts, circumstance and issues that are not related.

    ReplyDelete
  24. What you're describing is two separate issues under two separate appeals.

The Board would process the appeal they received an render a new decision.

OWCP would process the reconsideration and render a new decision in that appeal.

This would have started as two separate decisions, each is being appealed.

One appeal has gone to the Board and one appeal has gone to OWCP. They should be treated as two completely separate appeals and one is not related to the other.

    ReplyDelete
  25. At this point I am very frustrated with OWCP we have filed reconsideration 4 times we have meant all the elements but one the medical and they keep asking for the same thing we go to his physician and he writes a report and denied again , they keep asking for the causal relationship and telling us the doctor has not provided sufficient medical evidence to satisfy causal relationship, also the how and why the physician believes that a claimant's injury could result in a diagnosed condition also the physician has still not explained according to OWCP how your massive rotator cuff avulsion was caused by land hard on your right shoulder after a co worker threw you to the ground , this case has been a nightmare from the beginning . I just need help with this last element to be approved we are far from rich and just had to pay for everything because my husband had to have surgery and therapy and now still can only do light duty for the rest of his life just don't understand what they want ?? to approve his case ?

    ReplyDelete
  26. This is a common issue. OWCP has specific requirements for how a diagnosis is connected to the events and it would appear your doctor is not providing those requirements.

I would suggest that you contact a doctor that has experience in writing narratives for OWCP and can explain the connection.

Another suggestion would be to read these articles so that you understand what is required and can relay that information to your physician:
    http://theowcpclassroom.blogspot.com/2011/03/narrative-reports-your-physician.html

    http://theowcpclassroom.blogspot.com/2011/07/more-on-medical-narratives.html

    http://theowcpclassroom.blogspot.com/2015/03/painin-your-report.html

At this point, instead of your doctor 'adding onto' any previous narratives, the doctor should write a brand new narrative that covers all the elements OWCP requires.
